Everything you need to know about CPD, in one place.

A single, plain-English guide to Continuing Professional Development, what it is, who needs it, why it matters and how our CPDSO-accredited units are recognised across the UK and internationally.

CPD Accredited, CPD Standards Office

CPDSO-accredited, independently verified

Find Your Inner Peace Ltd. is accredited by the CPD Standards Office as Provider 23047. Every unit awards 4 CPD hours and every learner receives a CPDSO-branded certificate.

1 · What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development, explained.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development, the structured process of tracking and evidencing the skills, knowledge and experience you gain throughout your career, both formally and informally, beyond your initial qualifications.

When CPD is accredited, it has been independently reviewed by a recognised body (in our case, the CPD Standards Office) and carries verified weight with regulators, employers and professional bodies.

The CPD cycle

  1. 1. Identify the knowledge gaps in your role.
  2. 2. Plan the units and learning that fill them.
  3. 3. Do the learning and apply it in practice.
  4. 4. Reflect & record what changed, and log the evidence.

CPD points / hours

One CPD point usually equals one hour of structured learning. NMC nurses need 35 hrs / 3 yrs, RIBA architects 35 hrs / yr, IET engineers 30 hrs / yr, CIPD members log CPD annually.

Each of our units awards 4 CPD hours, submissible to your professional body.

2 · Who needs CPD?

Across education, health, HR, coaching, community and families.

CPD is mandatory for most regulated UK professions and increasingly expected everywhere else. Our units are designed for the cohorts below.

  • Education

Teachers, SENCOs, pastoral leads, university staff and researchers, evidence of safeguarding, inclusion and neuro-informed practice.

  • Health, care & justice

Nurses, doctors, pharmacists, social workers, key workers and justice professionals maintaining registration.

  • HR, L&D & corporate

CIPD members and workplace wellbeing leads evidencing neuro-inclusion, menopause and workplace brain health.

  • Coaches, therapists & practitioners

Independent practitioners needing accredited hours for professional body membership and insurance.

  • Community & third sector

Charity, faith and community leaders supporting families through diagnosis, crisis and change.

  • Parents & carers

Not for registration, but for confidence, clarity and shared language with schools and clinicians.

3 · Benefits of CPD

Why accredited CPD is worth the time.

  • Keeps skills current

Neurodiversity, brain health and trauma-informed practice evolve, accredited CPD keeps you working from up-to-date evidence.

  • Meets regulator requirements

Verifiable CPD hours maintain licence, chartered status and professional body membership.

  • Supports progression

A logged CPD portfolio evidences your commitment at appraisal, promotion and job applications.

  • Demonstrates accountability

To employers, clients, regulators and inspectorates, CPD is the audit trail of your practice.

  • Builds client & public trust

An accredited certificate signals training that met independently reviewed quality standards.

  • Better outcomes for people you serve

Trauma-aware, neuro-inclusive staff make safer decisions and prevent avoidable escalation.

4 · CPD & employability

Turn learning into a hiring edge.

For students, graduates and career-changers, CPD-accredited units translate degree-level knowledge into work-ready evidence. Employers can see, at a glance, that you have completed independently reviewed learning in neuro-inclusion, brain health, regulation and trauma-informed practice.

  • Work-ready skills

Practical tools for classrooms, clinics and workplaces, not just theory.

  • Portable certification

A CPDSO-branded certificate you can attach to any application.

  • Standout CV

Evidence of specialist knowledge in a fast-growing field.

5 · CPD across the globe

Recognised beyond the UK.

CPD is the UK term. Elsewhere you'll see CEU (Continuing Education Units, US), CME (Continuing Medical Education), CLE (Continuing Legal Education) and CPE. All describe the same underlying principle: evidenced, ongoing professional learning.

Our CPDSO accreditation is internationally referenced and our certificates are accepted by employers, regulators and professional bodies across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Australasia and Africa.

6 · Proof in practice

Real families, measurable outcomes.

Our CPD units are built on the same tools we use with families and professionals every day. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Case studyBespoke 6-month programmeWaiting-well support

Kerris Roberts, parent of two boys awaiting ADHD & autism assessment.

Kerris came to us while her two sons were on the NHS waiting list for ADHD and autism assessment, showing daily symptoms with no clinical support in place.

We built her a bespoke 6-month programme as our “waiting-well” service, giving the whole household the tools, language and regulation strategies to navigate school, sleep, meltdowns and daily life while waiting for diagnosis.

The programme is wrapped in our Lifetime Safety Net, so Kerris and the boys still have a place to come back to, for life.

“Being on a waiting list felt like being left to cope alone. This programme gave our whole family a way to understand the boys, and each other, right now, not in two years' time.”
Kerris Roberts — Parent, shared with permission

Measurable outcomes

Six months in, here's what changed.

  • 4 → 1

Average meltdowns per week, across both boys, by month 6.

  • 100%

Of the household using the same regulation language daily (parent + siblings).

  • 0 school placements lost

Both boys stayed in mainstream school through the waiting-list period.

  • Lifetime

Ongoing Safety Net access, no re-referral, no waiting list to come back.

Self-reported by the family at 3 and 6 month review points. Shared and published with Kerris's written consent.
